So i was diagnosed today with severe anemia and was told that running the marathon would not be a smart thing to do. Does anyone have experience with anemia and advice? I'm going to take this week to REALLY rest up and see if that helps, but I'm getting really freaked out by comments on the web about the dangers of intense exercise and anemia, like heart problems/heart attacks. Dang!! Really don't know what to do. Except I so know one thing, I am going to Boston regardless, and I think I even want to show up at the starting line, but not sure how far I will get! Best wishes to the rest of you as you endure the dreaded Taper! See you all Sunday morning!

DON'T READ ANYTHING! They're all crackpots... rest, rest, rest, rest, and know that you are very loved.

Mmm...OJ and roast beef for breakfast! This is the real "Breakfast of Champions"!! Thanks, Rabid for helping me keep my mind off of the negative things that are plaguing me right now. You're awesome and thanks for letting me get all emotional to you yesterday! Have a great day and I am so glad Spouse is on the up and up and feeling a little better!

ms. mileage, sorry to hear about your diagnosis! I had anemia when I was pregnant and remember that I felt extremely tired. It was better if I took my prenatal vitamins consistently & ate foods that were high in iron. You are so well prepared for this marathon that if you really rest until monday and eat right, I think you will be fine. I want to hear more about the details. I'm sure you want to be careful and do the smart thing....you will know what to do when the morning comes. Until then, be at peace. Can't wait to see everyone at the trials!

rabid...I left something on your porch for you and E. Will you deliver? Thanks!

As I texted you, I feel so sad, but take the iron & B12, & rest-you will shine next Monday! You are the shining example of health!

My wife says REST, instead of 5 workouts daily, put a limit on yourself!!!

Trailtreker - yes you did! Thanks! I'm sorry I missed you and I will deliver. When are you guys leaving? I presume the Milege de Ms has made meeting arrangements for the trials and I have your phone number.

I don't have a phone for triabry... do you guys all have one? Again, I'm assuming you guys did all of that on Saturday.

Thanks for the advice and hopeful thinking for me. I am completely resting from running, etc until Monday so I really hope that helps. The weird thing is how breathless I am just doing normal things. This all hit so suddenly so it's hard for me to deal with.

Can't wait to see everyone in Boston. This is a trip we have all looked forward to and worked so hard for, for a long time. We are going to have a blast! Boston doesn't have any idea what is about to hit them-the great Crackodawners!!

Good luck to all of you going to Boston!! You have trained hard and are ready to have a great race.

Mel- I had enemia and found that the best Iron sumplment to be a liquid one from the Flora brand it is call iron + herbs. You can get it at good earth, it is in a maroon box. I would get it and take it 3 times a day and you should feel a differance by boston.
hope things go well.

Thanks, J- I have that iron supplement at home and can't wait to get home from St. George today to start taking it. And BTW, congrats on your marathon win! That's amazing and the winnings aren't too shabby too!

Good luck Outnback at the marathon Saturday. You feeling ready? Also E-doll is running it, so good luck to you too. Can't remember who else is, but hopefully all goes well for all of you.
