Soccer Park, 5:30

AND... a sincere Congratulations to the Crack-o-Dawners for finishing the Wasatch Back Relay in a short 23 hours and 35 minutes (4th in coed open - the web site has us listed as 1st in coed submasters)! Well done guys! How fun was THAT!?

Is anyone sore? Does anyone care to comment on your experience?

Also a special THANK YOU for the lovely Trailtreker and talented Paceless Plodder. Thank you for your efforts, time and mostly for making it all happen! THANK YOU!

This was by far the craziest thing I have ever done! I was doubting if I was having "fun" in the middle of the night, but truthfully, I had a great time and would definitely do it again! We just need to get all the Crackodawners there next year. Our van had a couple stressful moments including getting to the starting line in Logan. We were supposed to be there to check in at 3:30. And as we were driving up there, we knew we had cut it a little close, but didn't quite realize how close until we arrived to the start with 8 minutes to spare! Paceless was wearing his jeans and a tshirt, so he took off to change in the park's bathroom and we went to check us in. As they are calling all runners to the starting line, Paceless decided to lay on the ground and do some stretching ritual!! We were questioning his logic, but he obviously knew what he was doing cause he jumped up with 2 minutes to spare, joined the other runners (most of them collegiate-looking runners!) and then took off and held his own amongst some very elite runners. Everyone ran really, really well and did awesome!!

I do wish we would have seen our other runners more. We only saw each other a couple times at major exchanges and the finish line. And the other thing, we felt we got the raw deal on, was that all the food stations were cleaned up and moved out by the time we came through. Not that we were slower than we were supposed to be, but because we had an "elite" starting time which meant we got to these exchange points a lot later in the day than the majority of the other teams. So next year, we will plan for this and bring more food with us instead of relying on the race to provide our food for us.

One other funny story from our van happened in the middle of the night when we were getting ready for our six runners to start our next legs. We went up to Snowbasin Lodge to wait, and since we had a little time, we decided to go in the Lodge, use the restrooms, and lay down for a little rest. Rick, Trail Trekker and I were laying on some benches, and then Rick went out to the van to make sure Paceless was getting ready to run. Trail Trekker and I fell asleep and awoke to find the place cleared out. Not another runner to be found! We knew Rick knew where we were, so we didn't stress too much, but still felt like we had been down there a while and it was weird that no one was coming to get us to go! So, we walked outside and discovered that the doors to the Lodge were locked from the outside, which means the guys wouldn't have been able to come get us had we not woken up! We found our van through the darkness, and inside were our other guys all fast asleep! Luckily, Paceless had decided to walk down to the starting line, because by the time we woke up the guys, we realized that we were late getting back on the course to find how far Paceless was in his 8-mile run! When we finally caught up with him, he only had 1 mile left. We sped to the exchange, threw Steve out to wait for his turn, and waited to apologize to Paceless for not being a very supportive team during his middle of the night run!! All in all, we had a great time!

Congratulations on a great running time! I looked for you at the finish but didn't really know what I was looking for or when you might arrive. Love the snowbasin story-glad you all finally woke up!

What an adventure!!! I could not have imagined the extremes of fun, stress, heat, smells, exhaustion, laughter and adrenaline that surged through me during the 23 hours and 35 minutes of the Ragnar Relay! I feel so lucky to have been on a team that ended up rocking the race!!! I went into it without any expectations about placing so I feel like we won the lottery! You guys are all amazing runners and tough competitors. Regardless of how we placed, it was such a great adventure and I would absolutley do it again. Thanks for everyone's support and contributions!

So, hillene, how was camp and your long rides to and from?

You guys are all so great - big congrats to all of you - what an effort. I assume you made Paceless run all of the hills? He loves hills.

We know that Tribry is tough because he wins the triathlon and then still makes it out for the Monday run!

You are my heros!
