6:30 at the Church, with the cold, we want to stay away from the winds. They have plowed the Murdock Canal and we will go north on it. And the bathrooms are open and heated just in case we need to warm up!

Marathon Day 2013

Sad News

This is not a post about a run tomorrow. I have texted many of you about the sad news of John's wife. I will stay in touch to see what would be best for John and his family. I was able to get an email sent from our Stake President on what he knew, I will put some of that in for you: Last night, around 7:30 pm, Dorothy Gillespie, wife of our good friend and colleague, John Gillespie, passed away while hiking in southern Utah. She and John were hiking to the Brimhall Arches near Capital Reef and Dorothy was stricken with heat stroke. It turned into a very desperate situation and due to the remote nature of the trail, John was unable to obtain help before she passed away. John and his family, along with their friends--Reid and Karen Heiss-- are returning home. They will be home late this afternoon. I have contacted the mission president of James Gillespie, the Gillespie's son who is serving in Chile, and he will contact James to let him know of this tragedy. Bishop Elder is informed and will rally the 2nd ward around the Gillespies. No information on funeral services is available yet. Please keep John and his family in your prayers. He will need our faith, prayers, and friendship over the coming months. Pres. Shaw
